Compile problem - size_t

This may seem a bit off topic, but I'm building glibc libraries prior to
compiling alsa sound drivers.  
Anyway, I'm gett messages like "parse error before psaddr_t".  One of the
lines from an h-file looks like:
extern ps_err_e pspdread(struct ps_prochandle *, 
    psaddr_t, void * size_t);

A coule weeks ago, I saw a messageon the alsa-user list from Kirk
regarding a problem he was having with "size_t".  My question is, whatis
size_t, and how can I check my header files to ensure they are set up
properly.
