Hi bruce:

Thanks for all that info.  couple of suggestions.  My suggestion is to edit
install.bat and put the following at the end of the command line.  If your
synth is on comm1 put:

speakup_ser=0

If it's on comm2:

speakup_ser=1

You will of course have to put a space before it to seperate it from the
rest of the line.  John has also suggested booting into DOS without
starting your DOS screen reader as this apparently causes problems with
detecting the speakout.
