alsa broken after 2.2.18 upgrade

Woops! I tried it again and this time it worked! I am learning in a very
compelling way - you always have to do things twice; they just do not work
the first time, but will always work the second time! <g>
Evidently I made a typo the first time and it tried compiling for 'all'
instead of my 'emu10k1' - but I am off and running now, many thanks...
