a speakup question

Hi Kirk and all,

This answer then prompts me to ask another question. When you do
insert-enter to turn speakup off, and then you do that again to turn it on,
does it reprobe the synth again when you turn it on or not? What I'm asking
is does speakup check to see that the synth is connected and working when
you turn it on again as if you just booted the system or not.
